The role of the Technical Support Expert is a pivotal position in Applicaster and requires a person who is self-motivated, independent, proactive, and with the ability to multitask efficiently. You’ll maintain the system of accounting records, and produce a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the monthly internal financial reporting packages & identify variances in the operating plan
  • Develop, refine and prepare financial information
  • Develop, document and enforce compliance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Reviews monthly closing process
  • Process payroll in a timely manner
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

The Roku Developer will be a part of the core TV product development team. You will also be part of the wider Applicaster development community working alongside colleagues specializing in HTML5 TV (Samsung, LG, Philips etc), Apple, Android & Amazon Fire platforms.

You will also interface with the global commercial, production, support & QA teams.

You’ll own the development of Roku platforms, including product driven features, any bespoke client system integration activity & implementing closer integration with Applicasters in-house app production and management tools, ensuring that the latest Roku technical developments and policy changes are tracked and the core SDK is updated to maintain availability for end viewers.

What you’ll do:

  • Own bringing the current Roku front end apps & SDK closer to applicasters core tools, and inline with applicasters other TV platforms
  • Take guidance from product and UX teams, taking concepts & producing tangible apps, using tools like sketch, zeplin & abstract as your guide.
  • Support the commercial & business analyst teams, highlighting supported features & raising awareness of any bespoke feature requests
  • Develop the majority of core for reuse, avoiding disposable code.
  • Support the wider app production community (production assistants, project managers)
  • Follow Roku OS & policy updates ensuring in market apps remain viable
  • Track and publicise progress using industry standard tools (Jira, Trello, Airtable)
  • Approach your output with an end viewer first mindset

Requirements: 

  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience developing front end apps specifically for Roku using Brightscript & scenegraph
  • Experience in Open source environment, JSON and Restful APIs for client-server communication.
  • High version control skills, with emphasis on git
  • Experience with Unit Testing
  • Worked with integration of in house systems & 3rd party components (for players, analytics etc) taking a modular or plug in approach to engineering
  • It would be beneficial if you also have experience with full stack software development in the media sector, working with Ruby JS, Node JS.
