When the Television Academy set out to create a unique viewing platform to stream For Your Consideration and Emmy® nominated content, they tapped Applicaster to build the complex app that would allow its Emmy voting members to view nearly 2,000 hours of video content on 6 OTT platforms.
The custom tech stack built on top of Zapp was interoperable with Applicaster’s out-of-the-box features. Zapp simplified launching over 100 content categories across 6 competition phases and delivered high volumes of unique content to thousands of voting members with different access requirements; up to 1,000 items on a single screen!
Claro Sports (owned by telcom giant America Movil) launched its first TV apps, featuring four 24/7 live channels with programming guides.
The app went zero to store in 3 weeks, extending distribution to streamers in 17 countries. Since they launched, Claro updates its Home Screen, with no development required, to keep things fresh for viewers & promote new events. They have also integrated additional analytics and added VOD content.
“We chose Applicaster to launch our first TV apps because they have a rich history in Sports apps, offer the most flexible technology to launch the Olympic Games to 17 countries, and allow us to later update the app to share additional sports.”
- José Antonio Aboumrad, CEO of Claro Sports.
In an effort to extend its reach with an increasing millennial audience, iOne Digital sought an agile solution that would combine its 11 Urban Lifestyle publications under one brand umbrella, each with different audiences, technology systems and monetization models.
They launched A Space For Creators across 5 mobile & TV platforms, aggregating video content from all of its publisher brands. iOne Digital's in-house team frequently used Zapp to iterate the design as they ironed out the new brand, and continues to use the platform to optimize UI for increased engagement and advertising revenue.
“Zapp really is an infrastructure that you can plug things into, switch out, and have interoperability; and as we make technology changes we don't have to redevelop the entire app ecosystem from scratch in order to make those things continue to work."
- Damian Benders, VP of Video Development
The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation was managing separate apps for its various content verticals – news, entertainment, music, sports, and more – and in some cases, with UI and content in eight languages. In addition to reducing complexity and leveraging more flexible technology, the Zapp platform allowed the network to consolidate multiple verticals within a single app.
The beautiful app launched in less than three months. The flexible app UI enabled every content format and vertical, allowing for immediate updates and greater relevance across all areas.
"Applicaster helps us create a stronger content experience so we can grow and better engage our audience.”
- Asa Arbel, Head of Product
